Gritap AI was founded by a group of researchers and engineers who saw a gap: despite the explosion of AI globally, Africa's unique challenges — and immense potential — were largely being overlooked by mainstream AI labs.

We started with a simple question: what if AI was built with Africa in mind from the ground up? What if models understood local languages, agricultural contexts, healthcare realities, and financial systems? That question became our founding thesis, and Gritap AI was born.
